KARACHI – Politician and Former MNA Nabil Gabol has claimed that the owner of Shapes gym – who is also a mutual friend with Hamza Shahbaz Sharif – brought the 10billion rupees bribe offer to Imran Khan to keep mum over Panama leaks.

The politician took to the twitter to ‘reveal’ the name of the alleged person. “Shapes owner mutual friend of Hamza nd Imran .IK must not keep his name discreet just bcoz they r friends it is of national interest 100m,” Gabol tweeted on Friday.

“So close friends that shape karachi land was sanctioned on President Musharaf order on request of IK for monthly 2 lac rs rent,” he further added.

Nabeel Gabol seems to be referring to Imran Khan’s old friend and confidante Umer Farooq, also known as Goldy.

Hamza on Thursday had alleged that PTI leader Imran Khan lied about a bribe offered to him to remain silent on the Panam Leaks case.

“Khan is perplexed and he is lying. We will take this up against him in court,” Shehbaz said commenting on the PTI chief’s claim that the government offered him Rs 10 billion for keeping mum on the Panama Leaks case.

“Khan should either validate his claim by sharing proofs or be ready for legal proceedings against him,” the PML-N leader said.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Friday said that he will disclose every detail about the bribe offer in the court, adding he would not publicise the name of the individual before any legal proceedings are initiated to investigate the matter.

“Take me to court and I will reveal the identity of the individual,” said the PTI leader, adding that the ‘messenger’ who brought the offer was also offered Rs2bn for convincing him.

“If I name the person, they will conspire against him,” said Imran.

PML-N has already warned  Imran Khan of a lawsuit, giving him three days to reveal the identity of the person who allegedly offered Imran Khan a bribe of R. 10 billion in order to keep quiet about the Panama papers.

Uproar in political spheres

Khan’s recent allegations have caused an uproar within political spheres with leaders of main political parties demanding clarification for the allegations.

Punjab Law Minister and PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of Imran Khan’s allegation.

“The Chief Justice should ask Imran Khan who offered him the money,” said Sanaullah while speaking outside the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday. The accusations he has hurled should be enquired into, the law minister said.

If the accusations are proven to be true then the person who offered the amount should be brought before the entire nation, he remarked, adding “that person should be punished.”

However, if the allegations are proven to be false then Imran should be taken to task, Sanaullah suggested.

“For the last four years, Imran has been insulting people,” he maintained. “He should be sent a notice and punished.”

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Saeed Ghani said Imran Khan’s allegations are very serious. Speaking to reporters, Ghani said it is Imran Khan’s duty to clarify who made the offer and mention the name of the person on whose instructions the offer was made. All such details must be brought to light, Ghani added.

He said that if such an offer was made, an inquiry should be conducted against the prime minister on these grounds. He added that by not clarifying, Imran Khan’s statement was also casting a shadow of doubt on the PPP.

President Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali reiterated that Imran Khan should clarify who made him the offer and give a detailed explanation.
