ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – In the wake of a terse response from Pakistan Army to Altaf Hussain’s hate remarks, the federal government is considering to ban live broadcast of speeches of the Muttahida supremo, media reports said, citing sources in Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).
Sources said there is no provision to accept any hateful speeches against the state and important institutions including the army and judiciary. Pakistani media was playing a game of ‘free for all’ and did not listen to PEMRA.
They said broadcasting of live press conferences of those political and religious parties having alleged involvement in terrorism and other criminal activities would also be banned.
“PEMRA is considering getting fresh undertaking from media houses over this sensitive matter,” added sources, “Media shall not be allowed to play recklessly.”
