Bad news for Salman Khan’s Tubelight in Pakistan

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s much-awaited film ‘Tubelight’ all set to hit the screens on the 25th of June this year, just might not be able to see the light of day in Pakistan.

The Pakistani Film Distributors Association and the Pakistan Film Producers association, along with various local film-makers, have been actively trying to stall the release of this production. According to sources, the Ministry has already given directives to distributors to put an end to the release of Tubelight as well as Vidya Balan’s Begum Jaan.

Actor Mustafa Qureshi spoke on this matter, saying that the government should always give top priority to local projects.

“I have always maintained that there should be a complete ban on Indian films.”

With two Pakistani movies already being announced for release on Eid-ul-Fitr, it is certainly true that authorities are headed in the right direction by putting their own industry’s needs over and above that of Bollywood’s.

However, according to sources, the filmmakers of ‘Tubelight’ are willing to go as far as writing an official letter of request to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for consent to the release of the movie. If required, they are even ready to take the matter to court.

Let’s see what becomes of the fate of this much-anticipated Salman Khan release!
