Lyari gangster Baba Ladla, 2 others killed amid Rangers operation

KARACHI – At least three militants including the notorious Lyari gang war commander Noor Muhammad alias Baba Ladla were killed in a shootout in the wee hours of Thursday according to Pakistan Rangers.

The operation conducted by Pakistan Rangers took place near Lyari’s neighbourhood and two of Baba Ladla’s close associates Sikandar alias Sikko and Mohammad Yaseen alias Mama were also killed.

According to a press release issued by Rangers, the “most wanted” suspects were involved in numerous terrorist incidents and heinous crimes.

Rangers sprung into action after receiving a tip-off about the presence of Ladla and raided Lyari’s Phool Patti Lane area.

The gangsters opened fire and lobbed hand grenades at the paramilitary personnel as soon as they realized their presence.

After a gunfight that lasted for nearly half an hour, Baba Ladla and his two accomplices were killed. Three other gangsters fled from the scene owing to darkness.

In a handout, Rangers claimed that during the operation, Head Constable Fayyaz and Constable Tufail lost their lives in the operation. Another Rangers personnel was left injured as well.

The press release also revealed that Baba Ladla had committed the murders of Shera Pathan, Arshad Pappu and Yasir Arafat with the help of Uzair Baloch. It also stated that in March 2013, Baba Ladla had kidnapped a group of Muhajirs and murdered them.

Moreover, Baba Ladla was wanted by the police in over 74 cases. The Lyari gang war ring leader was operating several torture cells in Lyari stirring fear among the locals.

The government had fixed head money of Rs2.5 million for Baba Ladla.
