ISLAMABAD – Minister of State for Interior, Shehryar Afridi expressed his hope that the government will deal with those protesting over Asia Bibi’s acquittal through dialogue.
In a brief interaction with newsmen on Friday, the minister said he was 100 per cent certain that the crisis will be resolved through dialogue adding that the government was in constant contact with those who are leading the protests.
The minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently on a visit to China, is also constantly being briefed on the situation.
‘We will not use any form of power, but if there is violence then the state will enforce its writ and take pro-active measures to ensure the safety of people and property,’ he warned.

Afridi continued that the government was receiving positive messages from the Wafaq-ul-Madaris and people from all school of thoughts.
We are also in harmony with the opposition parties as well as all stakeholders, including civil-military, added the lawmaker.
The PTI leader affirmed that all decisions were being taken after consultations and even currently the team was meeting the chief minister.
The politician also commented on the Supreme Court verdict and expressed that the decision upholds that no blasphemy was committed and we should be happy about that.
‘All stakeholders love and uphold that there can be no compromise on respect for the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him),’ he highlighted.
