I did not summon Rangers, Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir clears the air

ISLAMABAD – The accountability court Judge who postponed the indictment of former premier Nawaz Sharif in references filed by National Accountability Bureau clarified that he had not summoned contingents of Rangers outside court on Monday.

The judge clarified this during an informal conversation with journalists who had gathered outside the court to cover today’s hearing where Nawaz Sharif appeared.

Earlier, in the day, a bevy of senior Pakistan Muslim league Nawaz leaders including the Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal was barred from entering the court by para-military troops.

A commotion broke out on the occasion stimulating Iqbal to express that he could not be a puppet minister.

The minister also threatened to tender his resignation after being denied entry in the court and vowed to investigate the whole matter.

The deployment of Rangers outside the court is still a mystery as the Director General Rangers claimed that the accountability court had enlisted their help to maintain law and order situation.

Nonetheless, Muhammad Bashir rejected the claim and stated that he did not ask for any deployment of law enforcers.
