US consulate staff ride Pakistani rickshaw for the first time, with SEATBELTS on

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Experiencing something for the first time can be really exciting. For the employees of the US Consulate, who recently have their first ride on a rickshaw in the port city of Pakistan, it was much more than mere excitement!

The US Consulate in Karachi released a video on their Facebook page to share their first experience of riding a rickshaw, a common and colourful mode of transportation in the country.

So much so that when it all ended and the rickshaw was back to where it had started its journey, everyone took turns to try and drive the vehicle.

For most in Pakistan, rickshaw is a troublesome vehicle, with the noise pollution. Besides that, it is also one of the most common features of Karachi or Pakistan, in general.

What’s surprisingly corny about the video is the fact that how much the Americans are pumped up and enthusiastic about the whole venture. After gawking at the rickshaw for a substantial amount of time (and seemingly taking in its unique design), the American staff decided to board the rickshaw.

As the three-wheeled vehicle strutted along the streets of Karachi, the passenger’s joy knew no bounds. Clapping hands, hooting and having the time of their lives, the American passengers were mystified and enthralled at experiencing a rickshaw ride.

Riding a rickshaw in Karachi is a dream come true for us. Our excitement knew no bounds when we actually got the chance to ride the amazing three wheeler!

One woman from the Consulate also stated that riding in a rickshaw was like “a dream come true” for her.

“This might be the coolest rickshaw I have ever seen,” said one employee as she found a sticker of a dragon which she likened to Game of Thrones.

Nervous about riding the rickshaw one of them adds that “I think it’s similar to the one time I went sky diving.”

Commenting on the practicality of the three-wheeler, an employee suggests that it is even better than a smart car because it can be parked anywhere, while another added that “we need to have Uber tuk-tuks in the US.”
