HYDERABAD – A serving officer of the Indian Army has been arrested in southern Telangana state in connection with the death of his wife, according to media reports.
Vishal Kumar Sharma (29), a Major in 54 Infantry Division of Bollaram in Hyderabad, was produced before the court for judicial remand on Wednesday.
His wife Samya Singh, who was a radio jockey, died on April 24 under suspicious circumstances at Army quarters and her family members lodged a complaint with police alleging dowry harassment, the New Indian Express reported.
The Hyderabad police, after seeking permission from the higher army officials, arrested Sharma.
Samya Singh and Vishal Sharma hail from Uttar Pradesh.
