Shan apologises to nation after humiliating Test series defeat against Bangladesh

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan’s captain Shan Masood apologised to the nation after a historic whitewash at home in the Test series against Bangladesh.

Speaking at a press conference in Rawalpindi, Test captain Shan Masood said, “We apologise to the nation for the defeat against Bangladesh, but as a nation, we need to think about how to improve Test cricket.”

Shan Masood mentioned that the entire squad was selected with his consultation and approval. “Test cricket requires mental maturity and experience; all bowlers played red-ball cricket after 10 months.”

He added, “The opposing team displayed its unique strengths in both Test matches. Bangladesh made a comeback after being 26/6 in the second match and had Pakistan five wickets down with a lead of 260 in the first Test. Despite having the advantage in both matches, we couldn’t secure a win.”

Shan Masood further said, “The pitch was different in both matches. We started well in both batting and bowling but couldn’t maintain it. We need to improve our cricket further.”

He noted, “Today was one of those days when Khurram Shehzad wasn’t available. We tried hard, but we couldn’t capitalise on the opportunities we had.”

The national team captain concluded, “There’s still a lot of cricket left, and we’ll work to improve. In the second match, we missed the presence of Shaheen Shah Afridi and a left-arm bowler.”
