We also surgical strike, Congress tries to cash in on the latest Indian buzzword

NEW DELHI – While the BJP-led Indian government is being asked to present evidence of “surgical strike” in Pakistan, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala has claimed that Indian military conducted cross-border raids during the UPA government.

In statement, the major opposition party’s leader also released the dates of three major “surgical strikes” conducted in Pakistan on September 1, 2011, July 28, 2013, and January 14, 2014.

The cross-border raids were not made public for political gains in the wake of national interest and political maturity, the statement further added.

“I don’t think the cross-border action is a novelty or is unprecedented. Just ask the generals, they will tell you that there have been numerous incidences of cross-border action across the LoC,” former Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram said in similar statement.

He said the Congress-led government practiced strategic restraint and did not own the “surgical strikes” publicly, while the BJP-led government is creating unnecessary noise after the claim of the latest surgical strike in Pakistan.
