Islamabad Rawalpindi And Parts Of Punjab Paralyzed For Third Day Amid Pti Protests

LAHORE – Protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters rallied in capital city Islamabad for release of party founder Imran Khan and the independence of judiciary while major roads remain block, with no mobile and internet services for third day.

There are massive closures of routes connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad for the third day, causing significant disruption to daily life in twin cities and parts of Punjab.

Most business centers in both cities remain shut, with the closure of Murree Road affecting traffic flow. Containers have been placed on various streets leading to Murree Road, exacerbating the challenges faced by local residents. From Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi to Faizabad, dozens of obstacles have been set up.

The situation also created problems for patients, while the suspension of mobile internet services severely impacted online businesses. Additionally, the metro bus service has been suspended for the third consecutive day while there is no option for inter-city commute.

Authorities have announced that mobile phone services are expected to be restored soon. Expressway and Kashmir Highway in the Islamabad area remain open, although all routes to and from the Red Zone are blocked till Sunday morning.

The M1 motorway to Lahore and the M2 motorway to Peshawar have been reopened, with maintenance work on M1 now complete. Residents are urged to plan their travel accordingly as the situation continues to develop.
