VEHARI – An investigative committee consisting of ‘special team of senior officers’ has been formed by District Police Officer (DPO) Vehari to probe the murder of Sharoon Masih, a Christian young boy believed to be killed for his faith.
The probing committee that comprises three police officers including SP Zubaida Parveen and DSP Sajjad Muhammad Khan will conduct an enquiry about the actual facts of the case and ensure the arrest of the accused.
Writing on his Facebook page, rights activist Jibran Nasir, said the post mortem report of Sharoon has revealed that he had no physical trauma caused by weapons but was injured due to punches and kicks. However, the chemical report is still pending.
“He [DPO] has also constituted a special team of senior officers to ensure that Sharoon’s family isn’t intimidated by local influentials or the SHO,” Jibran wrote who spoke to DPO.
Jibran said that he has also informed the DPO about Sharoon’s father’s claims that Sharoon was a victim of religious and class based intolerance “which contradict the claims made by the local ASI.”
Earlier, Jibran told Daily Pakistan that Sharoon’s father clearly had indicated that his son suffered from religious discrimination and was killed for his faith.

However, there have been multiple and unsubstantiated contradictory reports about the murder making rounds on social media. While the fact that Sharoon was murdered by his Muslims classmates has been already established, the motive behind the murder remains shrouded in mystery in the absence of a formal report by the enquiry committee.
