TEHRAN (Web Desk) – Turkey and Iran country heads on Tuesday called for an end to the bloodshed in Yemen while addressing a joint news conference in Tehran.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is on one-day trip to Iran, said I am not concerned about any sect but only Muslims and we need to play down the regional tensions to end this bloodshed.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, while agreeing with his Turkish counterpart, demanded the both parties to put an end to dangerous events in Yemen as these could further destabilize the whole region.
“We have to put an end to this bloodshed, this death, he maintained.
The two presidents signed eight agreements and took pains to emphasize the need for greater economic cooperation, with Erdogan saying that the two countries were far behind a target to lift trade volume to $30 billion.
Trade between the two totaled around $14 billion in 2014.
