Zardari stopped Nawaz Sharif from tendering resignation amid sit-ins, claims Khursheed Shah

ISLAMABAD – Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah claimed on Friday that Nawaz Sharif was going to resign during twin sit-ins but Zardari-led PPP stopped him.

“Asif Zardari went to Raiwind and showed the world that he had accepted Nawaz Sharif as the prime minister,” he added.

To a question regarding the premier’s role for restoring peace in Karachi, Shah maintained that Nawaz Sharif had no role to play in Karachi’s ‘improved’ security situation.

“Nawaz Sharif is not involved in this, Gen Raheel, the Army and the provincial government have an understanding,” he said.

The leader of opposition went on and took aim at the federal government for attempting to block the Sindh government’s move to ouster Inspector General of Police A.D. Khawaja.

“By putting blockages in the provincial government’s way, the federal government is playing a dangerous game,” observed Khursheed Shah.

It may be mentioned here that PTI supremo has accused PML-N and PPP of striking a covert deal which he dubs ‘Mukmuka’.

“I have no doubt that Nawaz and Zardari have cut a deal, and that is why Zardari and Sharjeel Memon have returned to Pakistan while Dr Asim Hussain and Ayyan Ali were set free,” Khan had said.
