LAHORE – Another brutl incident has been reported in Lahore, and this time a mother and her teenage daughter, who were employed as housemaids, suffered severe assault at the hands of their employer.
Reports in local media said the incident occurred in a private housing society near Lahore airport. Local residents approached cops after deteriorating condition of the young housemaid, who was visibly injured.
Lahore police responded promptly, arresting the accused and shifted the victims to the hospital for medical treatment.
The victim confirmed physical assault by her employer, who according to her assaulted using sticks and even forced to drink boiling water. Following her statement, a formal complaint was filed against the homeowner, and an investigation has been launched into the disturbing incident.
The case is latest in series of troubling domestic abuse cases. Last year, a noted landlord from Ranipur, was arrested after death of minor housemaid, Fatima Furiro, but the victim’s family now forgave him in out of court settlement.
Earlier, a similar case involved a 14-year-old domestic worker named Rizwana, who was hospitalised in Islamabad after enduring brutal abuse from the wife of a judge. Rizwana’s account described being beaten with various objects, including sticks and iron rods.
