TV anchor Shahid Masood detaches himself from electronic media

LAHORE – On Thursday renowned media anchor and analyst Dr Shahid Masood announced his decision to leave electronic media due to ‘poor state of affairs in the industry’.

In a video message shared on the Internet, Shahid Masood said that the situation had deteriorated as ‘the journalists are abusing other journalists’ in their programmes, adding that he could not continue working in such atmosphere.

Talking about his professional career, he said that he covered war-hit areas, including Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon and remained successful in his career.

The former MD of Pakistan Television further said that he and his colleagues had wanted to give Pakistani media a new level in the world and had high hopes about it when they started working in 2001-2002.

Shahid Masood concluded that he did not know whether he would join the electronic media again.
