Manager among three killed in Lahore bank shootout

LAHORE (Staff Report) – At least three people were killed and three others injured on Thursday during an incident of firing at a local bank, police said.

According to City police chief, a man – identified as Abdullah – entered a government-run bank in Allama Iqbal Town and opened indiscriminate fire on the staff.

The firing left three staffers dead. The victims were bank manager Nasir, a security guard Khalid and one of the cashiers Sohail.

Three other bank staff members were critically wounded. They were identified as Muhammad Hassan, Sikandar and Sobia.

Soon after the incident, police arrived at the bank, arresting the alleged attacker and seizing CCTV footage of bank surveillance cameras.

The attacker also got injured when one of the bank security guards retaliated, police said, adding that the incident seemed to be the result of personal rivalry as no cash was looted from the bank.

Police said the attacker was a cashier at a Government Science College. Further investigations were underway.

However, police said the reason behind the incident looks personal enmity.
