PTI workers awaiting emergency committee decision for next course of action

Following party chairman Imran Khan’s arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers are protesting across the nation as they wait for the announcement of a six-member committee to determine the next course of action.

In towns all throughout the nation, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, and Mardan, PTI workers protested.

Near Nursery in Karachi, protesters and police engaged in physical conflict. They wrecked a bus, tore down street lights, and set fire to police cars while hurling rocks at them. According to reports, police shot tear gas rounds at the demonstrators. On Rawalpindi’s Murree Road, the police also used tear gas to disperse the crowd.

PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi stated in a statement that a meeting of the central leadership and members of the emergency committee set up by the party head has been called to discuss the arrest’s implications for future action.

He also noted that the issue will be evaluated before announcing the next course of action.

The emergency committee includes PTI leaders Saifullah Niazi, Azam Swati, Ijaz Chaudhary, Murad Saeed, Ali Amin, and Qureshi.

In addition, Qureshi denounced the “attack” on the IHC and the alleged abuse of the party leader while in custody. He criticised the police for storming the court and arresting Khan during the biometric verification.
