Raw Gent Arrested In Karachi Sent On Two Day Remand

A suspected operative of India’s intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), has been remanded into police custody for two days by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi. The accused, Muhammad Saleem, was apprehended on charges of possessing illicit weapons and explosives.

The arrest took place in Karachi’s Mauripur area during an operation conducted by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Sindh police. Authorities claim that Saleem, allegedly linked to RAW, was found in possession of hand grenades, a rocket launcher, 9mm pistols, and multiple fake service cards from various departments.

A case has been registered against the suspect under multiple legal provisions, including Section 23(1) of the Sindh Arms Act 2013, Sections 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act, and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.

During the court proceedings, the investigating officer requested a 14-day remand to conduct further interrogation, but the ATC judge granted a two-day remand instead. The court instructed the officer to provide a progress report at the next hearing.

Initial investigations suggest that the suspect had been in possession of multiple passports and identity cards under different names, and documents were found indicating that he had traveled to India multiple times via Nepal. Authorities allege that Saleem was involved in gathering sensitive information and conducting subversive activities on behalf of RAW in Karachi.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as authorities delve deeper into the suspect’s connections and activities.
