KARACHI – Police have beefed up the security to stop visitors from going to Hawkesbay and adjacent Sandspit beaches due to ‘high tides’, an official said on Sunday.
According to media reports, the roads leading to the two beaches are being sealed while a ban is also being imposed on swimming and frolicking at the beaches.
Police stopped a large number of picnic goers from going to beaches this morning resulting in queuing up of vehicles to the entry routes to the two beaches, the report added.
Meanwhile, all recreational spots at the beach have also been closed down. Twelve picnickers from three different families drowned at Hawke’s Bay Beach on Saturday.
In a statement, Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair has expressed sorrow and grief at the drowning of 12 persons.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives due to drowning at Hawkesbay shore.
