LAHORE – The appeal made by the Prime Minister Imran Khan for collecting money to build Diamer Basha and Mohmand dam seems to be attracting people from all age groups, even the children.
Recently, a video surfaced on social media in which over half a dozen kids were shown queued up to contribute to the fund, at a private bank in Lahore.

The video depicts kids from war-torn Bajaur agency holding money in their hands to submit to the account opened by the chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar in July.
The kids, all smiling, earn their money by polishing the shoes of passersby, however, the repeated calls for collection of money forced them to submit money, so that the menace of water scarcity could be avoided.
A day earlier, the Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa handed over a cheque worth Rs 1 billion to the top judge, as a contribution by Pakistan’s military for the dams.

Riled by the negative commentary on the initiative, the top judge also expressed on Tuesday that those branding the collection of money as begging should be ashamed.
