NEW YORK - The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Tuesday unanimously approved a resolution on promoting interreligious and intercultural dialogue in order to promote peace and non-violence in the world.

The resolution, which was tabled by Pakistan and the Philippines, reaffirmed the solemn commitment of all states to fulfill their obligations as per the United Nations Charter and Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN Maleeha Lodhi welcomed the adoption of the resolution by consensus.

According to Radio Pakistan, she said it reflected the international community’s support to Pakistan’s efforts to eliminate extremism and prejudice.
