Quadrilateral meeting calls for direct talks between Afghan Taliban, government

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The Quadrilateral Committee on Afghanistan in its declaration in Islamabad has stressed to make efforts for early direct dialogue process between Afghan Government and Taliban.

Representatives of Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and the United states attended the meeting.

All four countries underscored the importance of bringing an end to the conflict in Afghanistan that continues to inflict senseless violence on the Afghan people and also breeds insecurity throughout the region.

The four countries after conclusion of meeting in Islamabad said that efforts will also be made to ensure conducive atmosphere for dialogue.

The declaration also stressed for elimination of extremism from Afghanistan.

The next quadrilateral meeting will be held in Kabul on 18th of this month.
