ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which used to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, on Thursday came up with a new demand of holding new elections amid the startling report of the JIT in Panama case.
PTI leaders Babar Awan, who recently joined the party, and Naeem-ul-Haque while talking to media outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) asked the government to announce early elections as the public wanted to select a new leader.
Babar Awan asserted, “We want new elections,” adding that the PM Nawaz Sharif should resign.
He also demanded the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar.
The PTI leaders also condemned the imposition of Section 144 in Islamabad.
Naeemul Haq warned that the prime minister will have to face the consequences on not giving resignation, adding that allegations were piling up against him with every passing day.
