RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – A year has passed since the launch of operation Zarb-e-Azab. During the ongoing operation, 347 officers and soldiers of Pakistan Army have embraced martyrdom while 2763 terrorists have been killed. Up to 90% of North Waziristan has been declared to be free from terrorists’ hold while the central command and control apparatus along with communication systems of terrorists has also been destroyed.
Armed forces of Pakistan have set unprecedented record of sacrifices while protecting the country from harm.
According to Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 347 officers and soldiers of the Army have sacrificed their lives to kill up to 2763 extremists.
9,000 intelligence operations have been conducted from which 218 wanted terrorists have been killed while thousands of extremists have been taken for interrogation.
Indiscriminate action has been taken against the terrorist groups which include Tehreek-e-Taliban’s Shereyar Group, Mansoor Group, Sajna group, Haqqani Network, Gul Bahaudr group, Punjabi Taliban and Uzbek Taliban.
Strong military action has also been taken against Turkistan Islamic Movement and Al-Qaeda as well.
837 terrorist hideouts have been destroyed while 253 tons of explosives have been recovered during the ongoing operation.
Praising the role of nation for supporting the Army, DG ISPR said that there has been a significant drop in terrorist attacks since the launch of operation Zarb-e-Azb.
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has expressed determination to continue the fight to eradicate terrorists till every extremist is wiped out.
