CPEC was my idea, claims Pervez Musharraf

DUBAI –  All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) head and former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf has claimed that the multi-billion dollars China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project was his idea.

In an interview, the former president expressed that he initiated the Gwadar port project. He showed concerns about the burgeoning number of Chinese workforce in CPEC related projects.

To a question regarding the ongoing Panama case, he maintained that the Sharif family would bear a loss no matter they win or lose.

When asked about the strict policies of Donald Trump, who is in the fourth week of his presidency, Musharraf said that dialogue was needed to engage in a relationship.

‘We can not strengthen our ties with China and Russia by detaching ourself from US’ asserted Pervaiz Musharraf and added that the foreign policy of Pakistan was shattered.

He emphasised the need for new provinces in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan besides throwing his weight behind the proposal of making Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), a province.

Regarding Hafiz Saeed’s arrest, he opined that the incumbent elite followed Indian government and so it was the easiest job to put JuD Ameer under house arrest.

Setting aside the criticism regarding his dance video which went viral, Musharraf vehemently observed that it was his personal matter and he needed not to be questioned over that.
