MULTAN – Pakistan scored 259 runs for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of the first day of the second Test against England in Multan.

Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first in the second Test.

Abdullah Shafique was dismissed for 7, Saud Shakeel for 4, and captain Shan Masood for 3 runs. Debutant Kamran Ghulam played a brilliant knock, scoring 118 runs before getting out, while Saim Ayub was dismissed for 77 runs.

Kamran Ghulam, who replaced Babar Azam in the team, scored a century on his debut Test.

At the close of play on the first day, Pakistan stood at 259/5, with Mohammad Rizwan on 37 and Salman Agha on 5, still at the crease.

Captain Shan Masood, speaking at the toss, expressed his excitement about playing for Pakistan, saying it was an honor, and highlighted the team’s strong spin attack. He also emphasized that taking 20 wickets is key to winning a Test match.

England’s captain Ben Stokes mentioned that if he had won the toss, he would have also chosen to bat and noted the success in the first Test.

It is worth noting that England defeated Pakistan by an innings and 47 runs in the first Test match.
