Hayatabad: 5 terrorists killed in Army-Police operation in Peshawar

PESHAWAR – One police officer embraced martyrdom and two Pakistan Army soldiers were wounded in a joint operation against terrorists hiding in a house in capital city of northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Five terrorists were killed in the intelligence-based operation after security forces cordoned a house in F7 sector of Peshawar’s Hayatabad area last night.

The deceased policeman has been identified as Qamar Alam, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Tuesday noon.

According to provincial Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai, the authorities had intelligence about the presence of six terrorists — who had earlier attacked a judge and additional inspector-general of police — at a house in the locality.

According to police, the militants had been living in the rented house for past month.

As the operation was successfully completed, the security forces took the bodies of terrorists in custody.

The building later collapsed following a blast, caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) fitted in a motorcycle parked inside the house.

The bomb exploded while the bomb disposal squad was attempting to diffuse it.
