LAHORE – Pakistani acclaimed singer Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi has been hospitalized owing to gallbladder pain and will be undergoing surgery for it, as per his doctors.
Attaullah hails from Isakhel, Mianwali and is widely considered a Seraiki artist, although he has recorded albums in Punjabi and Urdu as well.

This Mianwali-born vocalist with his swashbuckler mustache, kameez shalwar, and shawl on one shoulder became the poster boy for traditional Pakistani music. Singing in Seraiki, the dialect of Punjabi that dominates western and southern Punjab, his searing impassioned songs caught on like wildfire almost from the moment he recorded his first session for Radio Pakistan Bahawalpur in the mid-1970s.
The singer has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Pride of Performance award in Pakistan and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Queen Elizabeth II. The Guinness Book of World Records also features him for releasing the highest number of audio albums.
