AGRA – A weird incident took place in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh where a woman sought a divorce from her husband just 40 days after their marriage for not bathing daily.
The woman, according to media reports, said her husband only bathed once or twice a month, which caused a severe odor from his body.
The woman approached the Family Counseling Center in Agra, expressing her inability to continue living with a man who cannot maintain personal hygiene.
During the hearing, the man admitted that he typically bathed only once or twice a month but would sprinkle himself with Ganga water once a week.
He revealed that over the past 40 days since their marriage, he had bathed six times at his wife’s insistence.
A lawyer said the woman returned to her parents’ home a few weeks after the marriage after the couple engaged in heated arguments.
Following this, her family lodged a complaint with the local police station and filed for divorce.
The man later agreed to adopt hygiene practices and bathe daily. However, the wife refused to stay with him.
Both parties have now been directed to return to the counseling center on September 22 to resolve their issues.
