Pakistani Filmmaker Altaf Hussain Passes Away

Renowned Pakistani filmmaker Altaf Hussain passed away on Monday.

Altaf Hussain, who contributed over 80 films to the Pakistani film industry, had been ill for a long time.

Recently, he had started work on his new film, “Tere Pyar Nu Salam.”

Hussain began his film career in 1969 with “Panchhi Te Pardesi,” which did not achieve success.
However, 12 years later, in 1981, he directed “Athra Puttar,” which was successful and featured Sultan Rahi, Asia, Bazgha, Ajmal, Sawaan, and Mustafa Qureshi. That year, another of his films, “Saal Sahib,” also became a box-office hit.

Songs from “Anjuman,” featuring the enchanting voice of Queen of Melody Noor Jehan, gained immense popularity. In this film, Sultan Rahi delivered a distinctive and positive role, while the romantic hero was Ali Ejaz.

The year 1983 proved to be very auspicious for Altaf Hussain, with three of his films—”Sahib Ji,” “Qudrat,” and “Lawaris”—achieving success. Like “Saal Sahib,” all three films featured Anjuman as the heroine and Ali Ejaz as the hero.

Additionally, his film “Rustam Te Khan,” starring Sultan Rahi and Yusuf Khan, also enjoyed success that year.

In 1984, approximately ten of his films were released, with three—”Chudiyan,” “Nikah,” and “Mehndi”— being particularly successful.

His 1985 film, “Dhee Rani,” was also a notable success, featuring Anjuman, Yusuf Khan, Ali Ejaz, Mumtaz, and music director Wajahat Attre. His 1988 film, “Noori,” was another successful venture.
