In 2006, the High Court quashed the case against Mika Singh, who was accused of forcibly kissing Rakhi Sawant. Rakhi herself consented to have the matter dismissed. On Thursday, the Bombay High Court ruled in favour of singer Mika Singh, dismissing the case related to an alleged forced kiss on Rakhi Sawant that occurred in 2006. Justices A S Gadkari and S G Dige, the division bench handling the case, based their decision on an affidavit submitted by Rakhi.
Additionally, Rakhi expressed her consent to the dismissal, stating that she and Mika had amicably resolved their differences. She acknowledged that the entire dispute had arisen due to a misunderstanding and misconceptions between them.
Mika had been charged under Sections 354 (molestation) and 323 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The FIR was registered on June 11, 2006, after Mika allegedly kissed Rakhi forcefully during his birthday celebration at a restaurant in Mumbai. In April of this year, Mika sought to have the FIR and subsequent chargesheet quashed, leading to his petition in the High Court.
The controversy between Singh and Sawant originated at Mika’s birthday party, where he kissed Rakhi, sparking a major scandal at the time. He claimed that he had specifically asked his guests not to smear cake on his face, but Rakhi did it anyway. In response, he decided to “teach her a lesson” by forcibly kissing her. Mika was arrested on molestation charges but was later released on bail. Much later, Rakhi and Mika reconciled when they unexpectedly encountered each other outside a coffee shop last year. At that time, Rakhi was even seen touching Mika’s feet.
Sawant made her debut in the film Agni Chakra and is renowned for her dance numbers in movies, as well as her participation in various reality shows such as Bigg Boss, Nach Baliye, and Rakhi Ka Swayamwar. Last year, she appeared on Bigg Boss Marathi and received a payout of ₹9 lahks from the show.
Meanwhile, Mika’s most recent venture was his reality show, Swayamvar – Mika Di Vohti and his last song was “Ragada” from the pan-India film Chengiz, which starred actor Jeet.
