Heatwave grips Karachi again, four people die of heatstroke

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Karachi is once again sizzling at 43C and four people have died of heatstroke.

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has directed the residents to take precautionary measures.
Chief municipal officer has advised the locals to intake maximum water and to use towel or cloth around their necks while going out.

The Met department has forecast a 5 to 6 degrees increase in heat on September 19 and 20 and temperature can go as high as 44 degrees.

The Met department says that the decrease in air pressure emerging from the Bay of Bengal will cross Pakistan. A moderate rain has also been forecasted in Sukkur, Mirpur Khas, Hyderabad and Larkana.

The decrease in humidity in air will likely to increase heat index and prompt emergency situation.

Director Health Services Zafar Ejaz has said that the citizens should take precautionary measure during these three days.

About 1200 people had died due to severe heatstrokes in June this year.
