ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced to block all SIM cards issued under the CNICs of deceased individuals from October 15.
In a recent announcement, the country’s national telecom operator urged users to transfer SIMs of the deceased family members to their own names at the earliest. After the deadline, all SIMs issued to deceased individuals’ ID Cards will be deactivated.
PTA told people to visit the nearest franchise for the transfer process, if they want the SIM to work. To facilitate the transfer, users must present the original death certificate of the deceased along with an official document proving their relationship.
Franchise staff will verify the submitted documents and assist in transferring the SIM to the relative’s name, ensuring compliance with the new regulations of PTA.
These latest measures aim to prevent misuse of SIM cards and enhance overall security in telecommunications.
