LAHORE – Punjab Police increased the age limit for candidates applying for positions of Sub Inspector and assistant sub-inspector to 40 years after new changes.
Punjab IGP Usman Anwar played a key role in extending the age limit for graduate constables and head constables wishing to participate in the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) exams under the P-Cadet Scheme.
The age threshold for candidates applying for SI and ASI positions was previously set at 35 years before this change. This decision is said to benefit thousands of constables and head constables who became over-age due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and other circumstances.
Punjab Police spokesperson noted that the change will enable over 1,000 constables and head constables to qualify for the exams. The change follows numerous requests from constables who expressed their concerns regarding the strict age restrictions.
Inspector General of Police submitted proposal to cabinet committee, which was subsequently approved, granting this one-time opportunity for over-age constables to participate in the upcoming exams. This extension is expected to open new pathways for those looking to advance their careers within the police force.
