Saudi King orders National Guard to join fight in Yemen

RIYADH (Web Desk) - Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdul Aziz on Tuesday ordered Saudi National Gaurd to take part in kingdom's campaign against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Saudi Arabian National Guard is widely regarded as the kingdom's best equipped military ground force that comprises of the tribes loyal to the King. The force is appointed to protect the house of Saud against any internal and external threat and is maintained under a special ministry instead ministry of defence.

Military operations in the campaign have so far been carried out by the Royal Saudi Air Force and the Royal Saudi Land Forces, which answer to the Defence Ministry.
