LONDON – A British teenager has set a new world record for performing a well-known trick: ‘Maradona seven’.
Tommy Boyd, 13, set the Guinness World Record for “fastest time to complete 10 Maradona seven football (soccer) tricks” at Henley College in Henley-upon-Thames.
The trick, made popular by Argentina soccer star Diego Maradona, involves moving the ball between the two feet, knees, shoulders and head in sequence.
Boyd completed the trick 10 times in just 29.78 seconds, shattering the previous record of John Farnworth, an adult soccer trick expert, who set the record at 35.47 months earlier, according to the Guinness World Records.
The teenager hopes his new place in the record book will help him fulfill his dream of a professional soccer career.
“I decided to break the Maradona world record because I’m passionate about my ambition to become a professional footballer,” he said.
