LAHORE (Web Desk) – Being a eunuch does not mean an easy life. Many people wonder whether funeral ceremony is carried out for eunuchs or not and other questions like where do they bury the dead. A ‘guru’ himself endeavored to answer such questions.
The ‘guru’ whose name is Sunny told the host in a morning show on a private TV channel that being a eunuch is not in their hands and it is society which produces people like them. The people do not consider them as ‘good’ and their relatives feel shame in meeting them.
He further said that nobody wants to witness their funerals and even the ‘Imam’ feels scared whether he should consider them a male or female. Normally the funeral ceremony is performed when the general population is sleeping or in those hours when people do not visit graveyards. Only very close ones join them in their happiness and sorrow. In the funerals, general folks and even close relatives do not participate.
In reply to a question Sunny said that if the family gets hold of the corpse after death, then they execute funeral rituals themselves. And also perform religious customs for the elevation of status of the departed souls in afterlife. If Eunuchs themselves have to carry out the funeral ceremony, then they do everything very silently and in privacy.
