KARACHI (Web Desk) – PCB recalled batsman Haris Sohail from the tour of Sri Lanka after he sustained a knee injury in practice, putting his participation in the one-day series that follows the Tests in doubt.
The 26-year-old has yet to play a Test but has been a regular part of the one-day squad since 2013. He has hit seven fifties in 22 games and has a healthy average of 43, Daily Capital reported.
“Sohail is suffering from a tendon injury in his left knee sustained in a fielding practice session on June 19 in Galle, and he will be returning back tonight to undergo rehabilitation,” the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement.
No replacement has been named.
Pakistan, 1-0 ahead in the three-match Test series, start the second Test in Colombo Thursday.
The Tests will be followed by five one-dayers and two Twenty20 internationals.
Pakistan have been badly hit by fitness problems in recent months, with PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan terming fitness levels the “worst in all Test-playing countries”.
