Indian Hardliners Threaten Cinemas Over Screening Of Pakistani Movie The Legend Of Maula Jatt

NEW DELHI – Indian hardliner politican and leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Raj Thackeray warned cinema owners against screening of Pakisani movie “The Legend of Maula Jatt”.

Amid threats, the movie featuring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan will only be released in Indian state of Punjab, the movie’s producer told an Indian publication.

Thackrey, the nephew of Bal Thackeray, announced that his party would block the release of the Pakistani film, hurling threats to cinema owners if they attempt to screen the film.

In a social media post, the 56-year-old said art has no borders, but questioned the rationale behind permitting such films in India amid tensions. He urged Modi led government to impose a nationwide ban on Pakistani movies.

He expressed concerns about the film’s timing, coinciding with the Navratri festival, suggesting it could lead to social discord. The right wing leader recalled previous actions taken by the party and urged theater owners to reconsider their plans, warning them to avoid the predicament of screening the film.

‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ set to hit Indian cinemas on Oct 2
