LAYYAH – A father has killed five children by poisoning them in Layyah and has later committed suicide over the matter of his divorce with wife in Layyah area of Punjab.
Tariq, 45, was depressed after receiving a khula notice and in desperate frustration he poisoned to death his five children including one son and 4 daughters and later committed suicide by swallowing poison on Thursday in Layyah.
The bodies were shifted to DHQ hospital for medico-legal formalities. The deceased include four girls and a boy.
The deceased were identified as Tayaba, Tayyab, Saba, Tanzeela and Shehnaz, who were aging between 5 to 15 years.
Tariq’s wife had obtained Khula and went to her parents house, leaving her children with him.
The police have registered a case and started investigation. Meanwhile, CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has expressed sorrow and grief over the incident and summoned a detailed report from the authorities.-Online
