ISLAMABAD – Representative of PML-N led federal government on Monday admitted that a total of Rs29.765 million were spent for bringing back Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from London after his treatment.
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, speaking on behalf of Minister in charge of the Aviation Division, disclosed the expenses incurred on the return flight of premier and said that the special charted plane cost Rs29.765 million.
The minister on the floor of National Assembly, however, said that no parking fees had been paid at London airport.
The legislator was responding to a question asked by PPP lawmaker Musarat Rafique Mahesar who had sought details of the expenditure.
The prime minister had returned home on July 9 this year from London after staying there for around 48 days for his medical treatment.
He had undergone an open heart surgery at a London hospital on May 31 and returned to Lahore from London in a special aircraft of the national flag carrier.
It is relevant to mention that Maryam Nawaz, daughter of PM Nawaz in a tweet had claimed that the expenses incurred on PM’s treatment were borne by the Sharif family.
