LAHORE – A Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) team has exposed residents of a village stealing electricity directly from low tension (LT) lines for quite long.
A Lesco team disconnected power supply to a village, Sharifpura (GT Road) after it discovered that nearly all the residents were involved in the electricity theft.
Lesco spokesperson told the Dawn that residents of only eight houses were using electricity through legal connections, adding that the rest were found stealing electricity directly from the LT lines.
The company spokesman stated that the Lesco’s GT Road sub-divisional office removed two transformers installed in the village and cut the connections of almost all the residents due to non-payment.
The company also submitted applications to the respective police station for registration of FIRs against the power thieves.
