KARACHI- A provincial lawmaker of ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was shot in the leg by Lyari traders over an alleged water-related dispute on Thursday night.
PTI Karachi chapter president Khurram Sher Zaman confirmed that MPA Ramzan Ghanchi was shot in the leg and shifted to Civil Hospital for medical treatment.
Zaman revealed that he received a phone call from Ghanchi in which he related that he had been shot by Karachi Timber Market Association (KTMA) President Suleman Soomro and his son Ali Soomro.
SP Muqaddas Haider told reporters that Ramzan Ghanchi was hit in his right leg, adding that he was “out of danger”.
The police officer also mentioned that the alleged suspects have been arrested after fired at Ghanchi, who usually prefers to go without security.

The dispute stems from the shortage of water supply in the area, the SP said, adding that the weapon used was likely a small one which was used at close range to the target. Regardless, “it can only be confirmed after the doctors issue a report,” he added.
