RAWALPINDI – Pakistan military’s media wing has reiterated that the country’s armed forces were fully prepared to give a befitting response to India if it resorts to any aggression or misadventure.
The reassurance came after a meeting between the army and air chief of the country on Monday in which the duo discussed the operational environment in the region including “threat and response”.
“Pak Armed Forces are fully prepared for a befitting response to any Indian aggression or misadventure,” the Director-General of ISPR, Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted after Gen Bajwa and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan met.
The statement added that the chiefs of the army and air staffs expressed their satisfaction on the readiness, coordination and synergy of the armed forces.
After the meeting, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa paid a visit to the Air Headquarters in Islamabad.

The statement comes a day after Gen Bajwa and Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan in their separate remarks expressed the armed forces’ resolve to protect the country.
In his statement, the military chief had said that defending the motherland was the most sacred act while the air chief asserted that the Pakistan Air Force would thwart any misadventure by the enemy.
Pakistan Army’s spokesperson, Major General Asif Ghafoor also held a press conference last week in which he emphasized that India should not mess with Pakistan.
“We do not wish to go into war but please be rest assured should you [India] initiate any aggression, first you shall never be able to surprise us. Pakistan armed forces shall never be surprised by you, but let me assure you, we will surprise you. We should also because you initiate, we shall also dominate the escalation ladder,” the spokesperson had clarified.
The tension between India and Pakistan escalated in the aftermath of Pulwama attack in which over 40 Indian soldiers were left dead.
The Pulwama attack is the worst in decades of insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir, India’s only Muslim majority state. Analysts claim that the attack might have been a false flag owing to the upcoming elections in India as anti-Pakistan sentiments are whipped up to garner support.
Pakistan condemned the attack with Prime Minister Imran Khan offering that the country would help track the culprits if New Delhi provides any substantial evidence in this regard.
“India has always accused Pakistan without any proof,” said Imran, adding that “If India has actionable evidence, they should share them with us and we will take action.”
