Free treatment for acid attack victims in Delhi, while Pakistan sleeps

NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – While the New Delhi government announces free medical treatment for acid attack victims in government and private hospitals, Pakistan fails to realise its responsibility towards its own victims.

Indian Express reported that Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) made the decision following the Supreme Court of India directions that said private hospitals to provide free medicine, food and other facilities to such victims.

For a region where acid attacks are common form of violence against women, free treatment for the victims is nothing short of a blessing.

At least 160 women have been attacked with acid in first four months of 2015 in Pakistan. However, there has been no relief from the government for the treatment and rehabilitation of the victims.
