RAHIM YAR KHAN – Thousands of passengers were left stranded at many stations as railway traffic remained disrupted on Wednesday after being heavily affected after due to more than eight bogies of a freight train derailed near Rahim Yar Khan two days earlier.
However, Pakistan Railways officials have claimed that railway traffic has been restored partly. Many passengers, including women and children spent sleepless night at Karachi Cantonment Railway Station with no proper facilities available and face delays of around eight to 12 hours.
Administration, reportedly, did not come for their assistance.
Media reports said that the railways do not have any reserve engines or bogies due to the launch of new train services. If new trains had not been launched then trains could have been run on reserve engines and bogies.
Around 8:00 am on Wednesday, the Pakistan Express arrived at the Karachi Cantonment Railway Station, and was ready to depart after a 19-hour delay.
The Shalimar Express, after a delay of seven hours, arrived at Lahore Railway Station.
