World Cup 2019, Live Score: India narrowly escape defeat against Afghanistan

SOUTHAMPTON – India escaped upset defeat by a razor-thin margin against Afghanistan at Southampton in ICC Cricket World 2019 match today (Saturday).

Indian Skipper Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first against Afghanistan; the Afghan XI managed to restrict India to 224 runs in 50 overs, in a performance being hailed widely by the commentators.

Virat Kohli managed to score 67 runs while Jadhav contributed 52 to the target; Gulbadin Naib and Mohammad Nabi took two wickets each.

In response, Afghanistan gave a tough time to Kohli XI, however, fell short of 11 runs to upset India.

Mohammad Nabi scored 52 runs while Rahmat Shah contributed 36 to Afghanistan’s 213 score in 50 overs.

For India, Mohammed Shami took 4 wickets while Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets as it clinched the game by 11 runs.

The unbeatable Indian cricket team is favourite against Afghanistan’s cricket squad which remains winless so far in World Cup 2019.

India and Afghanistan have never met at the World Cup.

The weather forecast is dry and sunny at Manchester with temperatures as high as 22 Celsius (71 Fahrenheit), with Southampton slightly cooler but still dry.
