ISLAMABAD (APP) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be having a special check on pacer Muhammad Amir’s performance in the forthcoming National Twenty-20 Cup to be staged at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
The National T20 Cup 2015-16 will be played in Pindi Cricket Stadium from September 1 to 15. The Qualifying round will be held from September 1 to 5 while the National T20 tournament will be played at from September 8 to 15.
Talking to APP, a Rawalpindi Region official said Amir who was banned from International Cricket for a period of 5 years is all set to make his comeback into the International Cricket very soon as his ban ends in September this year.
He said the national team already lacks pace bowlers and with the inclusion of Amir in the squad it would improve the bowling department. “The PCB is keeping an eye on his performance and he is expected to get a ticket to international cricket very
soon,” he said.
He said Amir will be representing Rawalpindi Rams in the National T20 and the region will also monitor his bowling at its part. “We have high hopes from the pacer and believe he will surely get a chance in the national squad before the end of this year,” he said.
He said as many as sixteen teams would take part in the event. “The selectors will also be noting the performance of several other young and senior players from the tournament,” he said.
