Pakistani crime-thriller, Laal Kabootar, has been selected as the country’s submission to the Oscars, and celebrities are rejoicing over the news, congratulating the cast and crew of the film for a job well done.
While Mahira Khan, Mehwish Hayat, and Armeena Khan took to Twitter to praise the lead actor, Mansha Pasha, Yassir Hussain also shared some encouraging words on his Instagram stories.

The Lahore Se Aagey star extended some words of appreciation but not without throwing a little bit of shade at none other than model Sadaf Kanwal. Recently, the star made some derisive remarks towards Pasha during an interview. As a reply to one of the questions during the Rapid Fire, Kanwal claimed that Pasha doesn’t belong to in the entertainment industry.
“Jis larki ko kuch din pehly industry mai nahi hona chahiye tha woh Oscars mai ja rahi hai, (The woman whose place in the [film] industry was being questioned a few days ago is now heading to the Oscars),” Hussain wrote via his Instagram stories. “Shahbash, Mansha Pasha,” he concluded.
The critically acclaimed film is filled with action-packed sequences and directed by Kamal Khan and produced by Harvard graduates Hania Chima and Kamil Chima.
The film features Ahmed Ali Akbar and Mansha Pasha in lead roles. Pasha took to Twitter to announce the news. The selection was made by a committee chaired by Emmy winning documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid.
The film will be submitted in the ‘International Feature Film Award’ category for the 92nd Academy Awards.
